Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for the arrest of everyone involved in possessing or transporting illegal weapons and their referral to the judiciary, after meeting Justice Minister Adel Nassar and Prosecutor General Rami Hajj.
In a post on X, Salam praised the reinforced deployment of the army and security forces across Greater Beirut after night-time gatherings, and said lasting stability requires the state to extend its authority over all Lebanese territory. "Decisions concerning war and peace must remain solely within the authority of the Lebanese state," he said.
The statement follows the seizure of an explosives truck at Dahr al-Baidar that Hezbollah says belongs to it.
